Consul General welcomes the Sri Lanka delegation to the 3rd International Nuclear Science Olympiad

Consul General Justice M. T. Mohamed Laffar warmly welcomed to the Consulate, the Sri Lankan students and professors who participated in the 3rd International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO 2026) held in Jeddah.

Hosted by King Abdulaziz University, INSO 2026 was organized by the Ministry of Education, the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), and the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE). The Olympiad brought together approximately 120 participants from 19 countries.

Sri Lankan students achieved an impressive performance, securing two silver medals and one bronze medal at the competition.

Consul General Justice M. T. Mohamed Laffar congratulated the students on their outstanding achievements and encouraged them to pursue excellence and reach greater heights in the field of nuclear science. He also urged them to give back to their country and expressed his best wishes for their future endeavours, including their continued efforts to represent Sri Lanka with distinction on the international stage.

The International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO), approved by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 2024, serves as a global scientific platform for students to exchange knowledge and expertise in nuclear science and its peaceful applications.
