The Sri Lankan Expatriate Society, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah, hosted a Christmas and New Year celebration at the Consulate premises. The event, held on December 27th, 2024, brought together the vibrant Sri Lankan community in Jeddah to share in the joy of the festive season and usher in the New Year with hope and unity.
The celebration was marked by the delivery of the Christmas messages from His Excellency Anura Kumara Dissanayake, President of Sri Lanka, Hon. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, and Hon. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka.
Acting Consul General Mafusa Lafir addressing the gathering invited the community to reflect on the true essence of the season — the spirit of giving. She urged all present to extend helping hands to those in need, share their blessings, and spread kindness and compassion throughout the year. She also expressed her deep appreciation for the hard work, dedication, and sacrifices made by the Sri Lankan expatriate community in support of their families and in the broader context of Sri Lanka’s growth and progress.
A highlight of the event was the beautiful Christmas Carole presented by the Sri Lankan expatriates. The talented community members, along with staff from the Consulate, delighted the audience with traditional and festive songs, filling the air with a joyous and vibrant atmosphere.
The magical presence of Santa Claus brought even more joy to the celebration, as he distributed gifts to the children in attendance, making their holiday season even brighter.
As the evening unfolded, the celebration culminated with a spectacular live musical performance by the C7 Band in Jeddah, who delivered an unforgettable performance. The energetic tunes and lively atmosphere were a fitting end to a memorable evening, bringing together the entire community in celebration.
The event was an opportunity for the Sri Lankan expatriate community to come together, share in the festive spirit, and reflect on the successes and challenges of the past year.
